Amarnath Yatra 2024: Pilgrimage To Begin From June 29

The 52-day Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage to the holy temple that starts on June 29 and ends on August 19. The Shri Amarnath temple Board (SASB) opened advance registration for the yatra from April 15.

To protect the security and comfort of devotees, members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are undergoing specialized training to become members of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs), according to officials.

“The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will start in Jammu and Kashmir in June and will last for about two months,” stated Ram Singh Salathia, the MRT Team in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, regarding the Amarnath Yatra.

The Amarnath Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the 3,888-meter-high Amarnath Cave, which is situated in the lidder valley in the district of Anantnag, 45 kilometers from Pahalgam and roughly 141 kilometers from Srinagar. The glaciers and snow-capped mountains that around the cave keep it blanketed in snow all year long. For devotees, the Amarnath Yatra is one of the hardest and most difficult pilgrimages. It is said that Lord Shiva resides at the site of this pilgrimage. Thousands of worshippers visit the Amarnath cave each year in hopes of receiving supernatural benefits.
